On Friday, November 16, 2012 at 1pm in Speakers Auditorium located at 44 Courtland Street, The University Speakers Series and the Atlanta Regional Commission will present Dr. John Kasarda, chief architect of the aerotropolis model—a strategic approach to fostering 21st century urban competitiveness via aviation-linked commercial development.  In the lecture entitled “The Aerotropolis: Creating Atlanta’s Competitive Advantage,”   Dr. Kasarda will explain the fundamentals and economic drivers of the aerotropolis and take the audience on a visual tour of emerging aerotropolis developments around the world.  He will also discuss how Atlanta can benefit by implementing the model to attract greater investment and create additional jobs for those at all socioeconomic levels by making the airport area, the city, and the region better connected, more economically efficient, attractive, and sustainable.  Highly recognized for his efforts in urban development, logistics infrastructure, and global supply-chain management, Dr. Kasarda chairs the Airport Cities World Conference  and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his research on airport-driven economic development.
